PCA of INFOPÊCHE

Word of PCA

In my capacity as Chairman of the Board of Directors of INFOPÊCHE, I welcome the initiative to activate the INFOPÊCHE website, now renamed www.infopeche.co , .

I congratulate the interim management of INFOPÊCHE who, despite working in difficult conditions, was able to obtain this important result which will give more visibility to our organization.. I therefore encourage him to keep the website open forever and to involve all Member States in its animation. All aquaculture and fishing activities that take place in the different Member States should be relayed on this site. I remind you that for almost a decade, INFOPÊCHE has been going through an operational crisis and the Board of Directors has recommended a transition period of two years and has asked Côte d'Ivoire to ensure this transition. All the countries have pledged to financially support this transition and have set up a Task Force made up of Angola, Côte d'Ivoire, Morocco, Senegal and Serra Leone to provide technical support to the transition. 'management team. I thank ECOWAS which has enabled Member States to achieve this transition to save INFOPÊCHE.

The new INFOPÊCHE team officially took service in September 2021 and Côte d'Ivoire had to release an emergency fund to deal with certain difficulties. I also thank the Kingdom of Morocco, Togo and Senegal, which have paid their contributions in 2021. I have just signed all the reminder letters to all Member States for the payment of their contributions for 2022. I reassure the States members that Côte d'Ivoire will make appropriate arrangements to provide a budget in 2022 to INFOPÊCHE. INFOPÊCHE remains an important instrument for the development of fisheries on the African continent. I would like to remind you that the other members of the FISHINFONetwork (FIN Network) are doing relatively well. These are INFOSAMAK for Arab countries, INFOFISH for Southeast Asian countries, INFOPESCA for Latin American countries, EUROFISH for Eastern European countries and INFOYU for China. There is no reason for INFOPÊCHE for African countries to lag behind. I therefore invite the new management of INFOPÊCHE and the task force team to get to work to meet all the challenges defined in the roadmap. Providing our institution with a strategic plan and reviewing its mandate are among the activities to be carried out during this phase of the transition. I am going to seek the support of the FAO on behalf of all the Member States to help us succeed in the mission assigned to this transition. I invite all technical partners to support Member States in this period of revitalization of our INFOPÊCHE organization.

My vision in two years is for Africa to have a more dynamic INFOPÊCHE that attracts all skills. At this time, my fellow Ministers and I will define relevant criteria and call for applications to appoint a very competent Director to lead the Organization..

Long live to INFOPÊCHE !

Long live to fisheries cooperation in Africa !

Thank you !
